THIS IS A WARNING FOR REPTILE OWNERS!
So the other night I (and my boyfriend) had a frightening experience concerning Damian. He’s been prone to escaping lately so my mom and boyfriend put duct tape around a hole for his misting system. Well needless to say he still poked around at it and ended up getting duct tape stuck all over his face covering his left eye. I was beyond scared for him. It was really stuck on him and needed to come off right away since it was covering his mouth and nose. We got it off but not easily or without affect. His left eye cap was definitely damaged.
At the time (which was probably around 3AM and I had work very early so I was sleeping before he woke us up in his distress) I thought his eye was really really hurt. This picture is from the day after and to my relief doesn’t look very bad. He’s acting fine and his eye is reacting normally to stimulus so I’m pretty sure it’ll be fine after he sheds.
BUT
I just want to warn others about using duct tape or something similar as quick fixes to holes or whatever in/on your pets’ enclosure. These animals are inquisitive and can get themselves hurt. I still don’t know how he managed to get it around his head like he did, but if we didn’t notice his distress when we did, who knows what could have happened…

I think he’s mad we ruined his big escape plans from this morning…
(little brat got out of his terrarium this morning; but since he made so much noise the boyfriend caught him before he could get himself wedged under my radiator)
